Day 7:

Having completed all sports competitions the previous day, most of the British spent the day either relaxing by the pool or out in KL.

At 6pm, the Malaysian Tri-Campus Games closing ceremony began. After speeches by the Malaysian campus Vice-Chancellor Ian Ashbee and Games Organiser Nigel Mayglothling, all athletes were presented with their medals. The UK, who won the overall Tournament with a haul of 11 Golds also saw team member Andrew Mitchell (Ultimate Frisbee) collect the Men's Spirit of the Games award.

Second place was occupied by Malaysia, with China finishing third.

Overall, the games had been a privelage to be involved in, offering the opportunity to watch and participate in a wide variety of different sports and of course the chance to visit and experience an altogether different culture. Only one UK University boasts the experience that we have had here and that is the Univerity of Nottingham.

On behalf of all the athletes I'd like to thank organiser Nigel Mayglothling along with his assistants and Malaysian and Chinese counterparts for making this a fantastic experience that I would recommend to any University athlete.

So for the last time, from the Mayalsia 2010 Tri-Campus Games, I wish you well.

Day 6:

Having had some R&R time the previous day, the deciding day of competition saw the UK wrap up an number of impressive performcances with gold medal finishes.

In Badminton, the UK women secured gold in emphatic style with a 12-0 win over China. The men, who could only finish as high as second after their defeat to Malaysia, similarly dispatched the Chinese without dropping a game, with the final score standing at 11-0.

Table tennis also offered mixed fortunes for the British, with the Men's team again crushing their Malaysian opposition 5-0. However, the UK women were unable to match this feat, instead being at the opposite end of the same score, losing 5-0 to Malaysia.

Both UK Ultimate frisbee and Volleyball also secured gold medals, with 11-6 and 3-0 victories over the Chinese respectively.

The last contested event of the games was the Football and with most athletes taking to the steps of the Pavillion esque sports centre, the atmosphere was good. Up first was the women's match, as the UK and Malaysia battled for gold, having both beaten China. However, the UK were never troubled, eventually notching up a 4-0 victory, with all the goals coming in the first half, taking their overall tournament tally to 12 scored without reply.

Today all athletes were rewarded for their efforts with a free day to visit Malaysian capital city Kuala Lumpa. Some had been out on the Tuesday night which meant getting up for an 8.30 start was something of a challenge. Equipt with an average to poor packed lunch and touristy site-seeing esque attitude we boarded our coaches and waited for departure.

The second day of competition in Malaysia once again saw Basketball as the first contested sport, though this time it was the men who were up first. After their narrow defeat to the Chinese the previous day, the UK side were keen to put in a strong perofmance against the Malaysians. Another tight game, the match was taken to penalty shots, the first round of which still saw the teams unable to be separated. However, sudden death followed and the UK were unable to overcome their opponents, eventually losing 48-49, to end a well fought but ultimately disappointing campaign.

The first day of sports began once again in searing heat, with Nottingham UK contesting in Basketball, Squash, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball and Football.

The first match scheduled was Womens Basketball, which saw the UK take on Malaysia, sweeping them aside with easen 64-15 and hardly breaking a sweat in the process, which given the climatic conditions is quite something.
